流浪大半生 大黃急尋領養人

還記得我們曾報導過，一位特別的外籍愛爸嗎？從加拿大來台20年以上的史康迪，在信義區四四南村固定餵養8隻流浪狗，每天下班後就騎著他的腳踏車花2個小時到街上餵食，每個月花費的伙食、醫療開銷高達3萬多元。而他的夥伴及附近居民都因為這群狗狗而凝聚了感情，但最近一隻名叫「大黃」的狗狗卻因為後肢癱瘓，不適合繼續住在街頭，也讓史康迪罕見地向大眾求助，希望能替大黃找到領養人！
史康迪說，自己知道每個愛狗人士都已經貢獻出所有的心力在流浪動物身上，所以他不太會向社會大眾求助。但這次的情況卻和以往不同，因為大黃的生命正面臨著危險。史康迪說，大黃就像是綠野仙蹤裡的那隻膽小獅子，害怕大多數的人，但在他眼裡看來，大黃只是被這個世界給忽略了，牠需要的只是一個能讓牠改變的奇蹟。
大黃已經生活在松智路消防局對面12年之久，每天晚上會在信義國小和四四南村之間「巡邏」，與大黃同夥的那群狗因此被史康迪稱為「守夜巡邏隊」。大黃的媽媽在9年前被捕犬隊抓走、最後死在內湖收容所。在這幾年間，年紀已經很大的大黃忍受了生活在街頭的各種惡劣環境，不過最近卻因為老化而跛腳。
2個月前，大黃因為癱在路邊無法起身，被通報後送進了收容所，之後志工也趕緊將大黃帶出並安置在詠欣動物醫院。住院2週後，大黃神奇地恢復了行走的能力，不過仍需要有人先將牠的後腿先扶起來、牠才能走動。詠欣動物醫院表示，大黃是腰椎老化造成後肢無力，但飲食及大小便都正常，在粗糙地面也能行走一段時間。史康迪心疼地表示，這是他餵養浪浪這麼多年來，看過最糟糕的情況，大黃目前的情況與年紀，都不適合再回到街頭生活。
史康迪說，自己雖然每天下班後都會去看大黃、帶牠出去散步並大小便，但是除此之外的時間，大黃都只能癱在地上，而且自己還要在去照顧其他狗狗，蠟燭兩頭燒的情況也讓自己有點沮喪。史康迪說，大黃似乎有經過居家訓練，因為牠不會在室內大小便，如果真的憋不住了還會因為羞愧而把自己的尿舔掉。
史康迪希望能有人給大黃重生的機會，只要給牠一個充滿愛的家，相信大黃能再活上很久一段時間，他希望有心想領養大黃的人最好是有自己的工廠、開放式的店面或是能讓牠能自由進出的地方，並且願意照顧大黃的晚年生活。他也徵求願意到醫院探望、帶大黃活動的民眾，可以協助替他分擔。

An urgent S-O-S!
Normally I don’t write SOS’s since dog lovers are already working to their limit.
BUT THIS IS DIFFERENT!! A life is at stake…
DaHuang looks like the Cowardly Lion in the Wizard of Oz… and is afraid of most people
To me he’s overwhelmed by the world and needs some miracle to become perfect.
This is the worst case in my 12 years of feeding and caring for two packs of seven “community dogs” in XinYi District. The tragedy is that Dahuang can’t raise himself on his hind legs and many people say to KILL HIM. For 12 years he has endured terrible conditions of living wild outdoors has become crippled (through sciatica/pinched nerve)
But my hope is that we give his a second life and defy nature by adding him to loving family and conditions that will let him live even longer. Dahuang was caught by the dog catchers two months ago in driving cold at the side of the road when he could not raise himself.
One volunteer bailed him out of Neihu Pound and put him in the Dr. Chou’s clinic on 428 Chiangjing Road (Xinyi District) – T. 2720-2631. After two weeks he has miraculously regained his ability to walk – BUT the he still can’t raise himself without help to walk (I have to gently pull up his rear to get him on his legs) … But he’s still too old to be put back outdoors…
Worse still, Dahuang is clogging up the clinic by lying around all day. Every evening and night I tend to him but this isn’t enough! I also have a heart condition and two other packs – and the weather - it’s really wearing me down. Dahuang seems to be house trained since he holds his pee all day for someone to take him outside. But if someone doesn’t come he’ll pee and then drink his own pee out of guilt.
Please help Dahuang (and me) by being a loving empathetic owner… ideally someone with a factory, open sided shop or shelter where the dog can easily move in and out. I need someone who wants to really help Dahuang in his later years.
ABOUT DAHUANG
- For 12 years I’ve been feeding this dog that is part of the “Night Patrol” that hangs out opposite the SungChi Road Fire Station who late at night “patrols” between XinYi Jr. High School and Primary School and 4-4 South Park.
- Nine years ago Taipei dog catchers used a tight noose to catch his mother, a beautiful red lab to later slowly and painfully die in Neihu. Since then Dahuang has been an orphaned semi-outside of the Patrol.
- And I repeat DaHuang looks really cool, like the Cowardly Lion in the Wizard of Oz… and is shy of most people and needs some miracle to turn him around.
